What can I sell as a "HOME BASED CRUISE AGENT"?
What can you sell as a "HOME BASED CRUISE AGENT"? Well, much more than just cruises! In fact, you can sell just about any travel product! However, due to the commission caps and reduced commission percentages imposed by most domestic US airlines, hotels and car rental firms, you only earn commissions on the following:
- Cruises - every cruise line & cruise ship worldwide
- Most Tours worldwide (We say most, because a very small percentage of "niche" tour operators do not pay commissions.)
- Consolidator International Airfares to destinations outside of North America / Caribbean
- All inclusive resorts - like Sandals, Super Clubs & Club Med
- Vacation packages - Air, Hotel & Car Rental packages offered to most cities
- Hotel stays & car rentals of 5 days or more
- Travel insurance
But, you can also sell domestic airline tickets, tickets to Canada & the Caribbean, hotels & car rentals of 4 or less days, non-commission paying tours, and all other travel through our central reservations office and charge your customer a service fee for your troubles - payable directly to you! Service fees are imposed by 95% of all travel agencies when ticketing domestic airfares, hotels or car rentals. These fees can range from $5.00 to $50.00, depending on the value of the services booked. Usually 5-10% of the value is assessed, although the exact amount is up to you!
The recent decisions by some airlines, car rental companies and hotels to reduce commission percentages and maximum commissions earned has made it impossible to cost-effectively track, research and report commission sales for these segments of the travel industry. Therefore, we do not normally pay commissions on these products. We do not discourage your booking such products, but we do encourage imposing service fees for compensation!
